ROSENSTOCK-HUESSY, EUGENROSENSTOCK-HUESSY, EUGEN (–), German philosopher and theologian. Rosenstock was the son of a banker in Berlin, and grandson of Moritz Rosenstock, the principal of the Jewish school in Wolfenbuettel.
At the age of 16 he converted to Christianity. In he finished his doctoral thesis and was one of the youngest teachers at a German university. For many years the Fund’s publishing wing, Argo Books, kept Rosenstock-Huessy’s English-language works in print and issued hitherto unpublished essays as books.
Inthe Fund closed Argo after finding another publisher willing to take on responsibility for the long-term availability of Rosenstock-Huessy’s works. That publisher is Wipf and Stock of Eugene, Oregon, who also publish.
Primary Works. The Collected Works of Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy on DVD, Norwich, Vt.: Argo contains all his published writings as well as many unpublished essays and notes and all of the transcribed lectures.
